PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass Excerpt features 4 pages from Chapter 11. This excerpt reveals Douglass's changing emotions as he thinks about his escape from slavery.

This task requires students to read closely to identify Frederick Douglass's emotions, record quotes demonstrating those emotions, and then draw emojis to symbolize those emotions.

This activity can easily be used for sub plans! It engages students because they get to draw emojis, and we know how much they love emojis!

This lesson came from my Frederick Douglass bundle from 2015, but I decided to offer parts of it as well for those who would like a smaller portion. If you want more of Frederick Douglass, visit Frederick Douglass Bundle.
