One of the standards for writing narratives is using descriptive vocabulary and using the 5 senses to create imagery. This handout organizes 5 centers that I did in my classroom to cover the sensory standard for narratives. My students absolutely loved it! You can select you objects for each center based on what the students are going to write about for their narratives. For example, my students wrote narratives that were set during the fall time, so the stations have fall candle waxes for smelling, pumpkin seeds and scarves for feeling, carnival and football sounds for hearing, fall images for seeing, and jelly beans for tasting. These activities helped improve my students' grades on their final narrative.
