Product Description
For young learners, the concept of mood/tone are the most difficult for them to grasp, especially in my teaching grade (grade 6) when it is their initial stage of being introduced to short stories. For a couple of specific students in my class, it seems challenging for them to connect the way a story is told to a kind of feeling it creates for the reader. They have a pre-assumption that a happy story is happy/jolly; a sad story is a sad one, and a scary story must come from a horror text. Not true. My goal is to set an example of mood/tone with a delightful "scary" short story called Three Skeleton Keys by George G. Toudouze. The short story is precise in the author's feeling toward his subject, and I feel that this short story would truly demonstrate how the author's feelings are carried into his writing. (Kay)
