It can be difficult to find the time to teach in detail about all of the events that led the US to Civil War. This handout will give your students the opportunity to become familiar with one such event: Nat Turner's Rebellion. This can be a class assignment or homework.
Students will read a concise, one page, summary of Nat Turner's life, his rebellion and its effect on the South. After reading the summary, students will take the role of a newspaper reporter attending Turner's trial. They are asked to write an article for their readers that discusses his life, the rebellion and the aftermath in the South.
This product is included in my "US History Summary Reading Bundle".
