Fun puzzle activity (with solution and word bank) based on the novel by Joan Lingard.
This is a summary quiz, designed to be used after reading the novel. It could be used as a homework assignment or as a filler exercise in class if you have nothing else prepared. I find that students enjoy the crossword format (and don't see it as work), even though it can be quite challenging.
There are 33 clues. Clues relate to characters and places important in the plot. A word bank is included to assist students. You could redact this to make the activity more challenging. In this case, you could use as an open-book assignment.
