If you have a few baseball fans in your classroom, this little mystery may be just right to get them reading. In this mystery by Marjorie Sharmat, students will practice schema building about baseball, visualizing, making inferences, summarizing, questioning, story vocabulary, and writing their own mystery. The book is best for students reading at the 2nd to 3rd grade level and works well for those wanting to read chapter books, but that just need a little more practice. The vocabulary is fairly controlled to alleviate frustration and build fluency. Reading this book is sure to lead to an interest in the rest of the series and other mysteries. Thanks for visiting and let me know if you have any questions. I currently have two other Nate mysteries listed...Nate the Great (the original) and Nate the Great and the Halloween Hunt. Check them out if you need additional resources.
