National Core Arts Standards (Visual Arts) Kinder-6th Grade Anchor Standard 3 Bundle
Standards can be hard to interpret for teachers and students. I’ve broken anchor standard 3 (Kinder – 6th grade) down into easy to understand language, created a rubric for it, included a teacher checklist so it’s easy to monitor if your students are proficient and made a student checklist in kid friendly language so students can monitor their own progress in achieving the standard.
This bundle is specific to Anchor Standard 3 and not one specific project. That means these can be used with any project where you want to go deeper with anchor standard 3.
For each grade level (Kinder – 6th Grade) the following three resources are included:
Rubric – I’ve unpacked the standard, re-wrote it in easy to understand language, and broken it into simple skills that show whether the student is proficient or not. The rubric is broke into four skill sets ranging from Basic to Exemplary.
Teacher Checklist – This is to help you keep track of the skills you are seeing your students demonstrate in the midst of busy class. There is room to list the student’s names in your class and then a column for each skill necessary in order for a student to be proficient. In those columns you can simply check off as you observe a student demonstrate the skill or take simple notes. This is a great tool to keep on a clipboard and in your hand during class so you can quickly track what you are seeing. It is also a great way to easily identify who is struggling to reach the standard and could use more of your support.
Student Checklist – This is designed to help your students easily understand the goal of the standard and track their own progress. The standard is broken into kid friendly language and includes “I can” statements that are easy for students to understand. I’ve included this for all grade levels but it is most effective and meaningful to students who are proficient readers. I would recommend using some of the “I can” statements out loud with Kinder and 1st grade rather than having them fill this out.
