Pg. 7-11 Social Studies Vocabulary and Academic Vocabulary – copy pages A and B back to back – cut on the dotted lines and fold on the solid lines – draw a picture and write a sentence for each vocabulary word
Pg. 12-15 Letter Practice – letters r, v, g, d, and f – roll the dice to see what color to write the letter, draw a picture of something that starts with the letter sound, and do a short activity with the letter
Pg. 16-18 “O” Family Words – Cut out the circle around the dog, the dotted lines, and the letter strip – insert the letter slip through the cut, dotted lines – move the strip up and down to make –og words – cut out the “O” Family Words book and fold it accordion style – write as many – og, -ot, and -op words as you can think of
Pg. 19 Pictures and Text Work Together – write a sentence to go with the picture
Pg. 20-22 Fun! Fun things I do with my family! – copy pages A and B back to back to create a book – write about where you like to go with your family, what you like to play with your family, and what else you like to do with your family – illustrate it
Pg. 23-24 My Book of Settings – a foldable book – draw yourself in the jungle, at the beach, and in the city
Pg. 25-29 Mystery Bottle – a writing and craft activity – copy the patterns onto the appropriate colored construction paper – glue together as seen in the example – write about where your mystery bottle will take you – a choice of plain writing paper or writing paper with a sentence starter – glue the bottle tilted onto a large piece of white construction paper and color your picture to show where you are going
Pg. 30-31 My Proper Noun Book – a foldable book where you can practice writing common nouns and proper nouns
Pg. 32-34 Tea Time! – glue the tea cups on the correct side of the paper depending on if they are common nouns or proper nouns – enough tea cups for two students
Pg. 35-46 Stack the Pancakes – Cook something new with dad! Place the pancake words facedown on the table, take turns using a plastic spatula – flip the pancake word over, if you can read the word, place it on your plate – lose a turn if you are unable to read the word – whoever has the most pancakes at the end of the game wins! I bought my spatula at the dollar store. Add to cardstock and laminate for durability.
