Postcard PalsPg. 3-5 Mixed Up Postcards! – unscramble the spelling words and write them on each postcard, color the postcards depending on the directions and write them in the correct boxes – there are 3 choices: 1 – the spelling words, 2- the first four spelling words and the six high-frequency words, 3 – the spelling words with the high-frequency words
Pg. 6 Use It! – How many vocabulary words can you use in sentences
Pg. 7-10 Letter Practice – roll the dice to see what color to practice writing your letter, draw a picture that starts with that letter, do the activity for that letter – letter practice for b,w,j,z
Pg. 11-13 Letter “e” word flap books and foldable Words With “e” book – cut on the dotted lines and stable all the letters on top of the letters “p” flip them up to create new words – there are two different flip books – fold the Words With “e” book and write words that end with –en, -et, -eg, and –ed
Pg. 14-16 Write a Postcard! – copy pages A and B back to back address your postcard, write your postcard, and illustrate it
Pg. 17 write details about Arizona and Alaska and decide which state you would live in
Pg. 18-22 Commas! – copy pages A and B back to back –glue the mailbox pockets into your book, cut out the postcards – decide if the commas were placed in the sentences correctly and put them in the pockets depending if they are correct or incorrect
Pg. 23-24 Capitals – Months, Days, and Holidays – a foldable book that helps you practice your capitalization
Pg. 25-28 Our Family Place! – Writing project photo essay – choice of 2 illustration pages – illustrate or attach one large picture or illustrate or attach 3 small pictures – write about your special place and attach it to a large piece of construction paper
Pg. 29-37 Help Amy Get the Postcard to Grandpa – a game to help you practice your high-frequency words -this can be put on cardstock and laminated – 4 placers – put your game piece postcard on the house – put the postcards in a pile – take turns choosing a card and reading a high-frequency word – if your read it correctly, move your game piece one space – if you choose a postman card with lost mail, go back 1 or 2 spaces depending on what the card says – whoever gets to Grandpa’s mailbox first – wins!
