Pg. 3 Use it! – see how many vocabulary words you can use in sentences
Pg. 4-6 T-shirt Spelling – unscramble each spelling word and write them correctly on the shirts, put the spelling words in abc order, color the t-shirts depending on how they end – 3 choices 1. the ten spelling words 2. the first four spelling words and the six high-frequency words 3. all ten spelling words and six high frequency words
Pg. 7-8 Color your final double consonants, -ng, -ck – write your spelling words but use a colored pencil or crayon to write the final double consonants or –ng, -ck letters – look at color key to see what colors to use
Pg. 9 Roll and Write! – roll a dice to see what word to write – either write a –ll, -ss, -zz, -ff, -ng, or –ck word
Pg. 10-12 Adjectives! – draw a picture of a noun – write a sentence with an adjective describing the noun
Pg. 13-15 Shades of Meaning – a foldable book – cut out the animals and glue them correctly in the book to show the shades of meaning
Pg. 16-18 living/nonliving trifold – choose a noun – circle living or nonliving – draw a picture and label it – write facts about it – write adjectives to describe it
Pg. 19 Steps in a Process – choose something you would like to show – making a sandwich, getting dressed for school, etc – draw 3 pictures to illustrate each step and write about each step
Pg. 20-26 This is the Hat for Me! – a fun writing and craft activity – choose a hat to glue on your head –decorate the head to look like you with crayons or paper scraps – write why you chose the hat and what you can do in that hat
Pg. 27-37 Hats for Me! – a fun game that lets you practice your high-frequency words - Everyone gets a happy/sad face gameboard. Put the hat game cards face down in a pile in the middle. Take turns reading the words on the hats. If you read it correctly, put it on the happy face. If you did not read the word correctly, put it on the sad face. Once all the hats are gone from the middle, everyone will take the cards that they got wrong and put them in a pile in front of them. Each person will take turns pulling a card from their pile and will try to read it again. In the end, whoever has the most hats on the happy face wins. – cut out and laminate – practice all the high-frequency words from Unit 1 or just practice this weeks high-frequency words
