Pg. 3-7 Science Vocabulary and Academic Vocabulary – copy pages A and B back to back – cut on the dotted lines and fold on the solid lines – draw a picture and write a sentence for each vocabulary word
Pg. 8-10 Roll and Spell – roll the dice to see how many times to write each spelling word 3 choices 1. just the spelling words, 2. just the high-frequency words that can be added to the back of the spelling words to have all 16 words, 3. The first four spelling words combined with the high-frequency words.
Pg. 11-14 Spelling Teller – Follow the directions to make the Spelling Teller as seen in the example – follow the directions on the paper – 2 choices 1. just the 10 spelling words 2. the first four spelling words and the six high-frequency words
Pg. 15-16 Roll a Sentence – Copy pages A and B back to back -roll the dice to get an adjective – underneath each adjective it says either noncount noun or count noun – roll the dice again and choose either from the noncount nouns or the count nouns depending on what is written under each adjective – take the adjective and the noun and write a sentence
Pg. 17 Zoo Adjectives – a fun page to reinforce count nouns
Pg. 18-20 – Identify the Plot – copy pages A and B back to back – fold to create a book - choose a story that you have read – write about and illustrate the characters and setting – turn to the last page and write about the plot
Pg. 21-24 “l” Blends – copy the flower parts onto appropriate colored paper (use lighter colors for the petal so that you can see the students’ writing) - cut out the flower parts – glue them together to form a flower – write a word with a “l” blend on each petal
Pg. 25-32 Gather the Flowers – a game to practice your High-Frequency words – can use cardstock and lamination for durability - Every player gets a basket. Place the playing cards face down in the flower garden. Take turns picking a flower and reading the word. If you read it correctly, place it in your basket. If you pick a weed, return a flower to the garden and lose a turn. Whoever has the most flowers in their basket at the end of the game – wins!
Pg. 33-39 If I had a Garden – a writing and craft activity – write about what you would plant, why, and how you would take care of your plants – copy the patterns onto construction paper, cut out the fence and glue it onto the bottom of a blue piece of construction paper (cut the blue paper smaller to fit the fence), cut out and glue the flowers - arrange them on your paper, add the centers, and color the stems and leaves – add your writing
Pg. 40 Did You Ever Tell a Lie? – respond in writing to your reading
Pg. 41-43 – Let’s Write About Zina – copy page A and B back to back – fold to create a flip up book - compare Zina as a puppet to when she is a real girl
