Pg. 11-13 Write words with “ph” and “sh” – Copy pages A and B back to back. Fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted line. Fold like a book. Flip up the flaps to write your words - a great time to practice the spelling words with these sounds in them.
Pg. 14-16 Contraction Surgery – Cut the contractions apart, take out letters and add the apostrophes in the correct places. Glue the newly made contraction in a box on the hospital paper.
Pg. 17-19 Io Moth Contractions! – Decide if the contraction is correct or not correct and glue them on the appropriate side of the moth. There are enough contractions for four students on the page. This would actually be a great activity to do before the students perform the contraction surgery.

Pg. 27-28 – A chance to write and respond. The first page offers you a chance to give your opinion of which poem is your favorite and why. The second page lets you explain what types of features an artic animal might need to survive.
Pg. 29-34 – The Day I Brought My Rattlesnake to School – A fun writing and craft activity. This is where you can let the students relax and have fun writing these creative stories. Copy the patterns onto the appropriate colored construction paper and put together as seen in the example.
