Pg. 4-9 The Big Delivery Race! – 3 choices – 1. first four spelling words with last six spelling words 2. the first four spelling words with your High-Frequency words 3. six High-Frequency Words – roll the dice to see how many times you should write your spelling words – move down the page, rolling your dice for each spelling word – when you get to the bottom, start at the top again – continue this process until you have a winning spelling word – the high-frequency word page has an added illustrating the word area – glue the second page onto the first page to extend it – see example

Pg. 10-14 Let’s Turn a Word – -nk, -nt, -nd practice – cut out the piggy bank and the small window on the pig’s back, add the wheel and a brad, turn the wheel to make –nk words – record these words under the flap in the recording flap book/ to make the flap book –copy pages A and B back to back, fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines – lift up the flap to write words - think of words to write for –nt and –nd

Pg. 15-16 Roll a Sentence – copy pages A and B back to back – roll two dice for a subject and then roll two dice for a verb – use the two words in a sentence – add –s or –es to the verb if needed

Pg. 17-19 Present Tense Verbs – copy pages A and B back to back to create a book – pretend you are a flower farmer and write about what you are doing on your farm right now – pretend your friend owns a flower shop and write about what he/she is doing right now (use the pronouns he or she when writing about your friend)

Pg. 20 Flower Power Time Line – How would you get a flower? Illustrate and write about the steps from flowers growing on a farm to being sold in a store

Pg. 21-23 Author’s Purpose Garden Bag – why an author writes – cut out the bag and handle, fold it, glue the sides to create a pocket – cut out the garden tool cards – write the author’s purpose for Markets, Special Delivery, and Flower Power – on the seed card, pick your own book/article, write the name of the book and write what you think the author’s purpose was for writing it

Pg. 24-30 The Day My Flower Talked to Me! – it’s your turn to write a humorous story – put the flower together as seen in the example – add as many writing pages as you need by attaching the pages at the top with staples so that they can flip up

Pg. 31-35 Old Weed – this game is played like old Maid but with an Old Weed card instead – directions are on the game – can be put on cardstock and laminated for durability
