This fun activity involves cross-curricular activities such as Internet research, informational reading/writing, and mathematical skills. Students are to find and research information about a US National Park that they would like to visit. Students write about the park, what interests them, what they would like to see there, trails, animals, plants, etc. They then plan a camping/road trip to the park by using Google maps to find their route, check gas prices, and then shop for camping supplies. Students use their mathematical skills to determine how much money the trip will take. I like to use this as a culminating activity at the end of my Social Studies unit.
