This kit focuses on the 340 words that are on the National Reading Vocabulary lists for First Grade. The kit includes 34 lists with 10 words per list on cute clipboards. The lists are in color for use in the classroom and in black and white for use at home. The black and white lists can also be used as an assessment tool. Just have one ready for each child and they can read the words to you. Then if they are having trouble with a word or two just circle those words and make a note to retest the child.
There is also a worksheet for each of the 34 lists. The students are asked to fill in the correct word to make a sensible sentence. Answer keys are provided.
Then I have included all 340 words on small cards. Just make copies of the cards, laminate, cut apart, and toss in a box or bag. Use them in a variety of ways for classroom practice. I have included ideas for a few ways that you can use the cards.
This kit will be a great asset to your reading tool box as you try to develop fluency and reading ability with your first graders.
