This is a "mini" lesson for Nationalism, Sectionalism and the Missouri Compromise. Students will first read a one page summary that discusses the ideas of Nationalism after the War of 1812, Henry Clay's American System, sectionalism, and finally the Missouri Compromise. These topics could takes pages and pages to cover. This reading distills the basic ideas. After the reading students will answer four thinking questions which can be copied on the back of the reading or written on the board.
Next, students will complete a one page note-taking guide (if you choose to write the thinking questions on the board this can be copied onto the back of the reading… a paper saver!) as they follow along with a 9 slide powerpoint. The short slide presentation and note guide further distills the reading. The note guide also has a map for kids to label the parts of the Missouri Compromise.
This product is included in my "US History Summary Reading Bundle".
