Nationalism and the Unification of Germany & Italy Breakout
*This is created for a 7th grade Social Studies Classroom in SC. It covers the the very basics of the unification of Germany and Italy.*
“Napoleon Bonaparte has taken over Germany and Italy! In order to help the people form a stronger, more united country, solve the clues and find the keys to the digital locks! The Italians and Germans are counting on you!”
The students will follow the the picture links to clues then additional picture links to websites and videos. They will read the attached website or watch the attached video to solve the clue. Once they’ve figured out the clue, they type the answer into the digital lock. If the answer is incorrect, the key will turn red and say “Still Locked!”
The students will need access to a computer, device, or chrome book.
After the student has unlocked all of the digital codes, a final code will pop up! (523) This is the code I have on a real locked box in my classroom. In that locked box I have prizes like pencils, candy, etc. It is not necessary to have that last code/lock box, but it makes it a little more fun. You wouldn’t have to have a lock box, you could use an envelope, or you can eliminate the last step.
Some schools districts have blocked Google Sites that are not created within their own district. This is typically only an issue if students use Chromebooks. Students can still access the sites in a computer lab. You may want to check with your district prior to purchasing. However, if you find yourself in a situation where this breakout is blocked, please message me on TPT and I’ll try to help you gain access.
