PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The three activities within can be used in three different ways and will provide the students with a brief explanation of the eight Native American Culture Areas that are in the lands that will become the United States. The materials can be used as an introduction of a deeper study of the cultures, or as a review of the cultures previously studied. It can also serve as a mini lesson about the groups as you begin a year long study of American History

Northeast Woodland, Southeast Woodland, Desert Southwest, the Plains, the Plateau, Great Basin, California, Pacific Northwest

COMMON CULTURE TRAITS
Nations of the culture, description of geographical environs, preferred food and clothing, type of housing, elements of lifestyle, rules and beliefs


WHO WERE THE NATIVE AMERICANS? Filling in and discussing the cultural traits is one class activity. Comparison of culture traits is activity 2 and creating a totem and writing about one of the groups is activity 3
