This 36 slide PowerPoint examines Native American Warriors of the West, their authentic artifacts, and the rugged environment in which they lived. The author uses original photographs of both the land and the artifacts to portray the lives of the warriors. Some artifacts that are depicted are items such as a bear claw necklace, a blood stained war shirt, bone and cowrie shell breastplate, weapons such as rattlesnake and sinew bows, a war lodge, clothing and shoes, war bonnets, saddles, and buckskins that told warriors’ stories. Photos were also taken of pictures in museums and gift shops of powerful warriors such as Sitting Bull, Red Cloud, Crow Dog, Rain-in-the-Face, and Crazy Horse (included are also original photos of the Crazy Horse Monument). A Blackfoot warrior’s burial platform is also depicted. This presentation can easily be adapted to a wide range of age levels.
