Product Description
Objective: To give students the understanding of how contract and treaty negotiation works and to allow students to practice and experience the creation of a treaty.

Background: There was great conflict between the United States military and the Native American tribes in the 1800s. As casualties mounted on both sides, the U.S. and Native Americans became weary of the losses and worked to negotiate terms of peace to which they could agree. Your job is to negotiate a treaty that will be beneficial to the United States OR the Sioux Tribe of Native Americans. (Depending on which side you are on).

Product contains: (1) Lesson Plan, (2) U.S. Instructions and Worksheet, (3) Sioux Instructions and Worksheet, (4) Powerpoint with step-by-step instructions and Exit Slip embedded. (Exit slip asks for comparison of student experiences with the actual experiences of US and Native Americans, so prior knowledge is necessary)
