I designed this product to go along with our Native American Unit. Since we study six tribes (Inuit, Kwakiutl, Nez Perce, Hopi, Pawnee, Seminole) I wanted to give my kids something to help them remember key facts about each tribe. In this file, you will see that your students can put together a little flip book for each tribe with a sheet to write or draw about that particular tribes' food and resources, clothes and shelter, and any other interesting facts or information about that tribe.
In the center of the fold-able is a map with a key. The key features a little box next to each tribes' name so that you can color the map according to the region each tribe originates from.
The way I have used this in my classroom is with centers. For each tribe, we rotate through a center about food and natural resources where they taste a food native of that region and examine photographs and discuss; a center about clothing and shelter where they create some type of craft having to do with shelter or clothing; and a technology center where I have them on Symbaloo going to links in order to find different facts about the tribe.
This is also easily differentiated because I have my higher groups write sentences or paragraphs on the flip book and the lower groups draw pictures and write key words.
The cover page is in color but the rest in black and white for ink saving purposes and so that the kids can color it for added fun!! Please do not be confused that there is only one page of flip book sheets, they are the same for each tribe so that you can just print as many copies of the flip book pages as needed and each child gets one print out of the tribe names to attach to each flip book. The photos in the preview should help!! If you need more pictures, I can send!!
I have found this very useful and fun for the kids and I hope you do too!! Please do not hesitate to send questions and any feedback is appreciated!!!
