Students love projects, especially making posters. Cooperative groups are using their creative side by researching a Native American tribe that they have chosen. Then they are filling in a graphic organizer on government, arts, family, religion and lifestyle. Each group member focuses on a certain topic. Then the information is turned into a creative poster where the students are responsible for adding a geographic map of their location, draw a totem pole using their symbols, and use tribal colors. They include other pictures and information they found on their tribe. They also include a two paragraph summary on the back that shares whether their tribe fought or assimilated with the U.S. and then asked for the group's decision on whether they would have fought or assimilated. We then presented to the class and displayed these posters!
