Generic activity menu with 4 choices for implementing informational texts with various leveled readers. Students choose 1-2 activties off the menu after meeting in Literature Circle Groups OR while you meet with groups respectively during Guided Reading. Choices Include:
*Making a Game Board with Questions using Info from Text
*Making a Native American Headdress with Feather Facts
*Making a Foldable using Key Concepts about Respective Tribes
*Making a Collage with Native American Images and Conversation Bubbles to Demonstrate Point of View from the Native Americans
Thanks to Laura Candler's Free blog and "Charmed in Third Grade" blog! Several links are attached at the end of the activites that provide "how to establish" literature circles and printable student recording sheets for Literature Circle Roles.
I have included the CCSS ELA objectives for Informational Text and Essential Questions that align to this activity menu.
**Specific book titles are NOT included. However, I used the books from the series, "If You Lived With....."
You could also separate each activity off the menu and make 4 Literacy Collaborative Work Stations with separate task cards to use whereas students would rotate and do all 4 tasks during the course of the reading unit instead of choosing 1-2 activities off a menu.
