My students love learning about Native Americans. This unit is designed to give basic information about Native Americans from different regions in the United States and a little more specific information about a few well-known tribes. The text includes some simple explanations as to why certain groups lived in a particular way. For example, it looks at why the Plains Indians moved from place to place while Native Americans from other regions stayed in one area.
There are simple, quick activities included which focus on: Key Ideas, Main Ideas/Supporting Details and Compare and Contrast.

**Please note: I was thinking of early 2nd grade when I put this unit together. However, it could be appropriate for 1st grade if reading and worksheets were done as a group activity.
I have an additional book in my store that has slightly more difficult text and more difficult questions and activities. It would be appropriate for 2nd -3rd grade. There is some overlap in content between the two units, but there are content as well as skill level differences.
