Product Description
The American Revolutionary War presented problems and opportunities for Native Americans, women, and loyalists. Despite a wish to remain neutral in a conflict that they did not understand, many tribes were dragged into the war with disastrous consequences, regardless of the side they backed in the War. Women were also deeply involved in the war, both by supporting the effort with domestic industry as well as becoming more actively involved through spying or even donning men’s clothing and fighting. For loyalists, the war forced them to either hide their politics in the hopes that they would be ignored, or to actively fight their neighbors for the crown they supported.

This text examines the unique experience of and outcomes for Native Americans, women, and loyalists in the Revolutionary War. This is adapted from the chapter “Other Battlefronts” from my textbook “We Take Nothing by Conquest”.

This text is part of a complete and comprehensive unit on the American Revolution, as well as part of a complete mini-unit solely on Native Americans in the American Revolutionary War. These units include not only this text but also inquiry based study guides, PowerPoints, activities, assessments and projects designed to accompany the text, along with a Teacher’s Guide for using all of the materials.
