Do you want to get your students to understand and admire the lives of these great people of America? This kid-friendly pack contains a nonfiction article on each of these Native American tribes:
-Northwest (along with a totem pole activity)
-Southwest (along with a plant experiment to learn about irrigation as well as a craft activity on Kachina Dolls)
-Northeast (along with a dream catcher activity)
-Great Plains (along with a STEM activity)
-Southeast (along with some mini-plays based on Native American myths)
-California (along with a cave painting activity)
-Arctic (along with a tangram activity)
For each group, there is a nonfiction article that tells about these people. There is also a STEM, science, language arts, or art activity to go with each group.
Also included, are two project ideas-- a museum and a dramatic presentation. For each project there are directions and rubrics. There is also a lesson about Indian Removal and the Trail of Tears.
This is a great activity to do before studying explorers. I have a similar pack that covers European explorers!
