This product is perfect for satisfying the new Georgia Social Studies standard SS3H1. The original text focuses on the Arctic Region and how the American Indians of that area used the environment to provide their food, clothing, and shelter.
The download includes two different versions of an original passage, one page with a coordinating vocabulary matching activity and comprehension questions, and the last page is a cloze activity that students can use to show their understanding of the content. Also included are two different graphic organizers and writing spaces where students can either elaborate on one region's native Americans or compare/contrast native Americans from two different regions. In the Lesson Idea section, there are also ideas for incorporating this study in a project-based learning unit.
The passages are written at approximately a 900 Lexile level and 600 Lexile level.
