Product Description
Nativist Cartoon Analysis activity explores the reaction to the influx of European immigrants in the 19th century. All seven different cartoons are accompanied with analysis questions. Used in an 8th grade American History classroom in Oakland, CA.

Note: the final image on page 6 has a racist depiction of an African-American man and a prejudiced depiction of an Irish immigrant. Teachers should use discretion when showing the cartoon from page 6. Explaining the context and preparing students to see this cartoon depiction of marginalized groups is a must.
