This is a Nativity Play I wrote when I directed our school's Christmas program a few years ago. It has ten scenes and it may be appropriate to intersperse each scene with a song at a Christmas concert. I have used it that way before, as well as for reader's theatre in a classroom setting.
I wrote this script, basing it of course on the story contained in the first chapters of the four Gospels. A digital copy is free and available online for anyone to borrow, use, or modify. It may be found at https://goo.gl/U8db49.
The text in green is taken directly from the Bible. It is usually taken from the New Revised Standard Version, but in some cases is based on the text of the English Standard Version or the King James Version.
The goal of this script was to provide students with an understanding of the extended story around the Nativity of Jesus Christ. It seeks to balance fidelity to the text of the Bible with an entertaining and coherent plot. Where the Bible leaves things to the imagination, I have done the imagining. I ask for your charitable interpretation of this work. Please leave a review to let me know what you think!
