This is a fun way to get students engaged in natural disasters. We have been talking about several types in science. Some of the disasters we've discussed are tornados, hurricanes, landslides, avalanches, earthquakes, and volcanoes. I used this as a way for students to research deeper into these natural occurrences, while being able to choose their own items/interests.
For most of the items, they will need access to the internet to research.
For my class, they had to spend at least $12. I challenged them to "buy" each item though. You can set your goal at whatever you think is appropriate!
I had them write their answers on a separate sheet of paper, showing me the item, the answer, and the dollar amount.
I hope you enjoy! Thanks!
