Have you heard of the literacy strategy RAFT before? RAFT stands for Role, Audience, Format, and Topic, it is a great way to get your students excited to write! This is a fun and different way to have your students present research project information!
Example RAFT: Role: Sheriff, Audience: Your "Natural Disaster", Format: Wanted Ad, Topic: Turn yourself in before it's too late! (I have even written examples for 5 of the 6 RAFT's for you to share with your students!)
In this download, you will receive:
-Graphic organizer for natural disaster research (PDF and Smart Notebook file)
-RAFT information/choice handout
-Graphic organizer for writing (if needed for lower students for organization)
-Filled out example the graphic organizer- Volcanoes (PDF and Smart Notebook file)
-5 sample RAFT pieces (examples for students)-Volcanoes
Feel free to use this resource packet however you choose. Use it all or just use pieces! In the preview is an example of how I used it in my own third grade classroom! Please let me know if you have any questions!
I hope your students enjoy this fun activity as much as mine did!
