This is a fairly simple lesson about the 8 deadliest natural disasters: tornado, avalanche, volcano, tsunami, hurricane, earthquake, flood, and asteroid. Each disaster is accompanied by a short video, so there is not as much speaking as most of my other lessons. I like to save this one for an exam week or a week when I have bronchitis or have lost my voice. If you are a teacher in China, you better believe that is going to happen sooner or later. As I go through the PPT, I write the name of each disaster along with the death toll on the board, talk a little bit about each one, and play the video. Some the videos are actual footage of real disasters, and some are from films. I use this lesson mostly as vocabulary builder for the younger kids, or for my older kids if I feel they need a little break. If you found this lesson useful, make sure you check out some of my other ones at ESL In Asia
. Good luck!
