Product Description
This mini - unit was designed to give students a snap shot into natural disasters that affect various regions of the U.S. In completing this activity, I broke students into groups of 2-4 (depending on class sizes), with each group examining one of the 10 regions - I placed the colored maps/diagrams in a clear plastic sleeve in effort to keep them nice for the entire day.

If you wanted to extend this activity, you could have students examine many regions.

Students worked with their groups to gather information and record it on their 2 page handout, answering questions (looking at the maps/diagrams) such as: What states are present in your region? What natural disasters are present in your region? What drills need to be practiced both in schools and at home to prepare for natural disasters?

To wrap up, each group (region) presented their findings in front of the class.

Note: Most of the information that students will need will come from the first chart of the 10 regions.
