THIS ITEM IS INCLUDED IN Natural Resources of Colonial America.
Students will learn about many of the natural resources used by the early colonists in North America. 48 resource cards depict a natural resource on the front, and identify its uses on the back. To play, a student selects a card from the stack, identifies it in some way (depending on the level of the students playing the game), and then states whether it is used for food, clothing, shelter, or a combination of uses. If their answer is correct, they count the total number of uses listed on the back of the card, and move ahead that number of spaces.
The game board is presented in 2 sizes:
Letter size, for use on standard printers, and
Ledger size, for use on large format printers.
Both files produce game boards that are, or close to, ledger size.
All materials needed to play the game are included. It can be used at centers, with parent volunteers, and with small groups. The game board may also be used for skill practice in other areas, and used in holiday centers at Thanksgiving time.
