This document includes directions for three group projects students can do to leverage what they are learning in a natural resources science unit (e.g. types of natural resources, conservation, and renewable power) in new, challenging ways. The projects require students think critically and learn how to not only learn for themselves, but become such an expert on a topic that they can teach others. There is also a post-project reflection assignment/rubric to help the students think about themselves as learners on this and future projects.
My students really enjoyed these projects since they are inquiry-based and student-driven. In addition, it asks students to work in small groups, building social and communication skills that are valuable in today's age of scientific and business development.
