1. Buy this Renewable Energy
This worksheet gives a place for students to write down their ideas as they are researching a specific kind of renewable energy. After they research, then the students must put together a persuasive speech about why someone should buy this kind of resource.
- Have students present their speeches in class
- If you have techy students they could try and create a “commercial” for the resource
- They could have a power point to go with the speech (like a business meeting)
- If your students don’t like to give speeches they could also create a brochure or pamphlet about that energy source
2. Natural Resource Quiz
This quiz is focused around all the different natural resources from the earth. It’s a great resource to let you know if the students understand this topic. (answer key included)
3. Track your water usage
This sheet is a spot for students to organize how much water they use in a 3-day period. I explained this table on a Monday and then they were prepared for Tuesday to be recording how much water they use. I have figured out a common activity per gallon. A bath is around 35 gallons so if they take 2 baths on Tuesday then they would multiply 35 x2 and write that in the box. If it works best they can just add tallies for the day and then multiple the gallons at the end (or at the start of class). It might get a little confusing, but hopefully this diagram helps you follow where they will need to add.
- Add across the rows
-Add down the columns (daily total)
-Last column you need to multiply by the ratio set
1gal = x degree
The goal is for students to realize that water is precious and we need to make sure we are not wasting it. We should be grateful because we don’t have to walk to a well far away to get “dirty” water and use that to drink.
