Natural Selection Lab. How does natural selection affect populations? Your students will simulate natural selection driven by predation. Using inexpensive craft beads (as bead beetles) and colored fabric, students act as predators and collect data showing changes in a population that affect evolution. Students will discern that natural selection acts on phenotypes, is non-random and changes populations.
Included in the download is two versions of the lab. One with a CER and one without. Teacher Notes are also included. Check out my Genetic Drift Gene Flow Bead Lab, too!
How to use it:
- Introduction to concept
- Small group work
