In this activity, students utilize a PhET Simulation to study the process of natural selection and fitness of a rabbit population. Student manipulate the selection factor (food & predator) as well as mutations (fur color, tooth & tail length) in the rabbit population.
Students should be familiar with the concepts of natural selection, survival of the fittest, fitness, allopatric and sympatric speciation, and the various types of selection (disruptive, directional, and stabilizing).
