Description

This includes 20 picture cards - 4 cards of each of the following natural sources of water:

River
Lake
Ocean
Pond
Stream

The pictures used are real-life pictures. I use these cards during our science unit, "Natural Sources of Water."

Print, laminate and cut out the cards for durability.

Some ideas for using these cards include:

-As an introduction to the unit. Mix up the cards, pass one card out to each student and tell them to sort themselves by the different sources of water. After they sort themselves, we sit together on the rug and have a discussion about all the different water sources we have on Earth and their names.

-After watching the PowerPoint, "Natural Sources of Water" (also for sale in my store), groups of students can sort the cards by the different water sources and fill out the recording sheet.

Students could also draw and label pictures of the different water sources in their journals.

The Student Vocabulary Book is included with and without lined paper. Older students can write the definition and illustrate the natural sources of water. Younger students can use the unlined paper to simply draw a picture.

These cards are great in the Science Center! Students will sort the cards under the correct signs with the water source names.

There are several versions of the recording sheet depending on your preference and if you choose to use all the water source cards or not.

The cards can be used in a variety of ways depending on the level and needs of your students. My kids love looking at the real pictures!
