Nature & Environment: Five Grade K Life Science 5E Hands-On Activities
ABOUT THIS BUNDLE OF ACTIVITIES:
This is one of a set of 5E, NGSS-aligned hands-on activities created by Ellen at the EdTechLens. The activities give students direct, hands-on experience with life science concepts and provide opportunities for collaborative learning. These hands-on activities are for classroom use. They are NGSS-aligned and support the life science curriculum. Lesson time for each activity is 1 1/2 to 2 hours; they may be done in parts. Easily-available materials are used.
This is a bundle and the individual activities are sold separately on TpT. Individual activities are also found in units in the Ellen at the EdTechLens store. Please see links below, if you already have some of our products, before purchasing.

Written for kindergarten students but can be used for grades pre K-1

PRODUCT DETAILS
1 — Student pages are organized by 5E headings. Students are given space to write, draw, and/or record data, depending on the topic and objectives of the activity.
2 -- Complete teacher support document is also organized by 5E headings. Additionally, each teacher document includes Lesson Overview, Background Information on the topic, Objectives, Standards Addressed, List of Materials, Set-up Directions, and (depending on the activity) an Appendix.
3 -- The Activity Cover Page may be printed or projected for discussion before, during, and/or at the conclusion of the activity.
4 - The About page provides a brief summary and publication information.
5 - There is no separate answer key for EdTechLens Hands-on Activities because, in most cases, answers will vary. However, teachers will find suggestions and guidance for assessing student responses in teacher documentation.
ACTIVITY TITLES, TOPICS, AND STANDARDS:
Changes in the Neighborhood
Animals, plants and humans can change the environment they live in. This lesson allows students to explore how these changes occur. Students will also discover that these changes can be helpful or harmful to the environment. 10 pages.

Green and Growing
This activity will provide students with a hands-on learning experience that will help them to understand that plants need specific things from the environment in order to live and to grow. Students will conduct a simple experiment with radish seeds to determine if water is one of the factors required for plant growth. 14 pages.

This activity allows students to explore how animals use resources from their environment to survive. Students will explore animals and their habitats and construct an animal home suitable for a particular habitat. 12 pages.
