Nature Scavenger Hunt is an activity that allows students to work in a cooperative group and make qualitative observations out in the schoolyard.
The hunt card includes 45 natural items to find or observe and a spot for the team to come up with their own observation.
Examples: acorn, y- shaped twig, a leaf that has changed color, exactly 10 of something, observe animal tracks, observe the sun, close your eyes and listen
Hunt cards can be copied on colored paper and laminated. Students can use a dry erase marker to mark on the card.
Students can be provided a clipboard, hunt card, dry erase marker and a brown paper bag.
Students can collect some of the objects in the bags such as a piece of litter or something that can be recycled. Students can use the camera on their phone to take pictures of some of the items they find but don't want to disrupt in nature.
Captured images can be put into a slideshow if time permits.
