Students will watch US President Barack Obama’s remarks delivered January 13, 2010, on rescue efforts in Haiti after the earthquake. While watching the video, students will practice their listening skills and fill in the missing words from his speech (a word bank is provided).
Following the video, teachers and students or groups may discuss the conversation questions provided.
To conclude, students will practice writing and speaking. This portion has students imagine they are leaders of their nation and a disaster has occurred in their home country. They will write a short speech about the occurrences.
