Have your students been naughty or nice this year? This sight word card game will have them full of Christmas joy as they practice Dolch Pre-Primer, Primer & First Grade words. Easy to prep and simple to play, 'Naughty or Nice' is the easiest easiest way to add some Christmas fun to your literacy teaching this holiday season. Place the cards in a themed container (I simply wrapped an old cardboard box with Christmas paper and tied it with a ribbon, but you could use a gift bag too) and place the game cards inside. Children take turns to draw a card - if if is a sight word, they read it and keep the card. If it is a lump of coal, everyone says "uh oh!" and that player returns all of their cards to the playing pile. The student with them most cards at the end of the game is the winner! Word cards are color coded for easy organization.
This game is perfect for literacy centres - and if your class is anything like mine, the giggles and grins (especially when a lump of coal appears!) as they play will warm your heart.
