This is a set of ten concept circles (following Janet Allen's model) for the nonfiction text "Navajo Code Talkers" by Nathan Aaseng. There is one concept circle for each of the nine chapters, except for chapter five has two. I have provided possible answers for each circle, as well.
These circles provide an opportunity for students to practice summarizing and making connections between ideas, drawing conclusions, and using supporting details from the text to enhance their summary writing.
You could use all ten as you read the book, or just use a few of them as quizzes or end-of-chapter reviews in conjunction with other end-of-chapter assessments.
