Activity description: With this reading comprehension and cultural comparison activities, students learn about a town in Colombia that celebrates Christmas in February and with a black Baby Jesus to keep a tradition adopted by their slavery ancestors, who were denied celebrating Christmas on December 25.
- Novice students read a text about this tradition and answer the reading comprehension questions. They also match some words from the text with their English translation. The teacher’s notes include an optional video viewing as an extension.
- Intermediate Low/Mid students read a text about this tradition and answer the reading comprehension questions. The teacher’s notes include an optional video viewing as an extension.
- Intermediate High/Advanced students read the full text, answer the reading comprehension questions, and compare their Christmas with this one. The teacher’s notes include an optional video viewing as an extension.
