This geography lesson focuses on Ancient Greece and the surrounding Mediterranean region. Students work in groups to label terms (places) on blank maps. Students also research the significance of the places. The next step is for the groups to work together to compare the map terms. As a whole class, they discuss the significance of trade and commerce and the development of city-states near water sources. This lesson is complete with a detailed teacher plan (guide), blank maps for student groups (Ancient Greece, Middle East, and Mediterranean), group term lists, blank group comparison charts, answer keys to all assignments, and rubrics.
