This connects to the theme of poverty and ethnocentrism. Students are asked to look at the way people eat around the world and how much they spend. Then they make connections to their personal lives. http://time.com/8515/hungry-planet-what-the-world-eats/
The back side requires students to play an online game where they need to live at the poverty line and attempt to survive the month on a low wage job. They are asked to make difficult decisions (dental insurance, attend funerals, etc.) and relate back to the struggles of Ruku and Nathan.
