Sorting Needs and Wants

In the following pages you will find photos and words for sorting needs and wants. I’ve deliberately added some items to trigger discussion. Some items might technically be a “want” but you’d have a hard time finding someone without it in their lives. Another discussion could be about how some communities find items to be “needs” while they are still “wants” in other parts of the world. Hula Hoops or rings could be used to contain each category of the sort.

The possibilities for using these photos for sorting is endless.
For instance:

*Sort just the photos
*Sort just the words
*Sort photos and words

*Print extra copies of the needs and wants and have students use a photo from each category and write a definition and sentence about each one.

*Using the pages at the end, have students record and reflect about what they sorted.

Just print, laminate, and cut apart. This learning activity is ready for small groups to use tomorrow!

There’s also a suggestion for using a Kidspiration template with your students.
