Three pages that make a great one-day lesson on negative exponents.
The first 2 pages provide 14 examples that can be used as notes and guided in-class practice The student begins by writing down the negative exponent rule. I go ahead and apply it to a fraction with negative exponents in the numerator and denominator as well and write it as a rule. These examples contain both multiplication and division questions. Negative exponents are mixed with non-negative exponents.
The third page provides 16 more questions that can be used as independent practice or homework. A teaching tip is included for helping the students work with negative exponents. Key included.
