This coloring activity includes 30 problems dealing with negative numbers and exponents. The focus of this activity is to reinforce the rules of cubing and squaring negative numbers. After the students solve the 30 problems, they find and color the answers in a grid to create a dolphin.
Depending on the grade level, this activity can be an enrichment given to gifted students, a review given to struggling students, or an activity given to all of the students when teaching complex order of operations.
Solving negatives with exponents is a concept many students struggle with, and this is a great way to practice the rules.
